ABOUT ELENA.
Elena Schiatti is a documentary photographer with expertise in human rights in conflict and post-conflict environments.
Her focus is on social and political empowerment, particularly that of women. After supporting survivors of gender-based violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia as a humanitarian officer for over five years, she decided to address these issues through a different lens: photography.
Elena attended an intensive course at the London Institute of Photography and a specialisation programme on Reportage and storytelling mentored by photojournalist Stefano Schirato. She is an alumna of the Summer School in Cinema, Human Rights, and Advocacy, directed by Nick Danziger, and of the workshops ideated by Daniella Zalcman and Natalie Keyssar from Women Photograph. She is attending a Masterclass in collaboration with the international photography agency Prospekt.
She speaks Italian, English, French and Spanish; Elena is based between Malta and Italy.
